Care & Maintenance
A helpful guide
to maintaining your new carpeting from Pierce Flooring.
The key to keep your new carpeting looking new and performing its best is to keep it well-maintained. We strongly recommend you develop a proper cleaning routine.
Place door mats at the entrances of your home
Using door mats or area rugs at the entrances of your home is a great way to ensure your carpet stays looking its best. The use of door mats can help protect your home from dirt and other debris that exists on the bottoms of shoes. Encouraging family members and guests to remove their shoes before entering your home will also help keep your carpet looking great.
This low-cost measure will help improve the longevity of your carpet.
Purchase a quality vacuum and use it regularly
While it may seem like a no-brainer, vacuuming your carpet regularly will help to remove loose dirt and dust from your carpet’s fibers. This build-up can, over time, have an effect on the appearance of your carpet.
Vacuuming at least once a week will keep your carpet looking its best.
Handle spills the right way
Always aim to treat all spills as soon as possible. When a spill occurs, immediately blot up as much of the liquid as possible with a dry cloth. Don’t scrub the area, as this may create a permanent stain.
Opt for warm water when rinsing the stain. Press a clean cloth into the carpet to soak up moisture. Then thoroughly rinse the area with warm water. When finished, obtain a dry cloth and work to absorb all remaining moisture, one final time.
When finished, that stain should be nothing but a distant memory.
